Dividend Yield

A stock's dividend yield expresses its annualized dividend per share as a percentage of its current share price.

For example, if a $50 stock pays $2 in annual dividends, its yield is 4% ($2/$50).

Dividend yields allow investors to compare income potential across investment opportunities. Higher yields may signal an undervalued stock, but also higher risk if the dividend is unsustainable.
