How we calculate your equity

As of today, we support tracking for most equity grant types including RSUs, RSAs, ISO, and NSOs as well as FMV for calculating it's value.

For example, let's pretend you are an engineer who works at Startup X that has a FMV of $1 / share and got issued an equity grant of $250,000 vesting over 4 years with a 1-year cliff.

While your equity grant can be worth a lot of money, we only reflect what's vested as part of your net worth. If you joined the company < 1 year ago, your total value for the equity would be reflected as $0 while if you hit the cliff and were there for exactly one year, it would be $250,000 / 4 = $62,500.

We take the number of shares you own (even through option contracts) and multiply that by the fair market value (FMV) to compute the "expected net worth".

Exercised options

For option grants based on significant user testing and feedback we landed on showing option contracts that weren't exercised as part of your net worth still if you are still eligible to exercise it (e.g. it isn't cancelled). A cancelled option contract is one that was not exercised within the window granted by the company (generally 90 days).

Performance based grants

We reflect performance based grants in your equity but only show them as vested if the performance criteria is met. Otherwise it shows as unvested (until it is no longer eligible) than it is cancelled.
